Welding Fume Tutor

Welding Fume Tutor is a multimedia training course. It's aimed at educating all people involved in welding, on the risks to health from inhalation of welding fume and the actions you have to take to control exposure. The Welding Fume Tutor is designed for welders, welding engineers, students, managers and industrial hygienists.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, requires employees to be given information and training on any risks to health arising from exposure to welding fume. The Welding Fume Tutor, developed by TWI, the Health and Safety Executive, industrial sponsors and union representatives, is designed to do exactly this.

The information contained within this package is based on statutory regulations, expert knowledge and practical experience.

A Multimedia computer based system which combines video clips, animated sequences, audio, scanned photographs, graphics and text, has been chosen as the ideal means of information transfer and training.

Welding Fume Tutor has been prepared in modular form. This means that the training programme can be completed in a series of short sessions.

Training course structure
Module contents

Each module comprises an introduction to the module topic, a statement concerning the aims of the module, fume related knowledge, a summary of the module's contents and a series of quiz type questions. These are used to check your new found knowledge. Your answers are not recorded, the quiz serves only as a personal measure of your understanding.

The full course test, which judges and records your responses, on all six modules, is a separate module, to be run once the training programme is complete.
